Last week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Claire, the owner and designer of Corico jewelry, a vibrantly handcrafted ceramic jewelry & home goods collection filled with lightweight statement pieces including earrings, rings, and necklaces.
What makes her collection so unique is that all corico earrings are made with titanium ear wires, which is hypoallergenic (used for things like hip replacements) so anyone with metal allergies or very sensitive skin can wear them. Also, ranging from dainty in size to big, bold statement earrings, even the largest corico pieces are incredibly lightweight and extraordinarily comfortable to wear.
Corico necklaces come with either a handmade chain, usually made out of annealed steel or a cable wire with magnetic clasp. The clasp is super easy to fasten and take off and stays put while attached.
Claire started designing her collection after her mother suggested that she should start making her own beads at a jewelry store they visited. She listened and started by fiddling around with a block of clay. Before she knew it, she started shopping for a kiln.
She started working with malleable and diverse materials such as clay, glaze, and glass (usually reincarnated from a delicious bottle of wine or a beach find), and the possibilities became infinite.
Today, her collection is being sold in stores across United States. You can shop Corico Jewelry on her website or Etsy (links below).
