Glamping has become a term most often associated with sleeping on a bed rather than a sleeping bag inside a tipi or a large luxury tent, having a beautifully planned decor while enjoying nature’s mesmerizing sunset views.
One would think that you have to travel west to experience all this luxury we speak of. BUT… fear not! We did all the leg work to provide you with a great array of places you can glamp within a 5 hour driving range from New York City… AND one IN NYC altogether.

1) Collective Retreats Glamping at Governor’s Island, New York City
A quick ferry ride from downtown Manhattan, this peaceful oasis is nestled near the hills of historic Governors Island. The Summit tent is all about privacy. You get your own luxury space equipped with a king bed, charging outlets, private bathroom (… it IS clamping after all!), rain-style hot water shower, spa bath products, robe, and luxury Turkish towels. The luxury stay will cost you $500 to $800 a night.
The Journey tent, unlike the Summit, provides a communal setting with a queen size bed, charging outlets, shared bathroom with private toilets and shower, as well as Turkish towels. It will cost you $150 to $300 a night to stay at the Journey tent. NYC amazing views at sunset: priceless!

2) Mountain Horse Farm Tipi Glamping in Naples New York
Mountain Horse Farm B&B and Wellness Retreat is a secluded, 33 acre farm. Visitors can see the gorgeous views in the Heart of the Finger Lakes NY Wine Country. The property offers glamping in traditional Sioux tipis and elegant rooms with fireplaces as well as jacuzzis.
Glampers can add Spa services like massages and acupressure treatments at the on-site Spa. The site also offers wine tours, transportation services, and a horse sanctuary where guests can schedule wellness sessions with horses.The property is located close to the wine trails and the Bristol Mountain Ski Resort.
Their two tipis, APACHE & NOKOTA are situated on one of the most beautiful spots of our property. They are in the same area but not close together so guests can enjoy their tipi in private. The tipis are a short walk from the Lodge that has a full bathroom, a lounge room and a TV room for your convenience. The Lodge also has a wrap around porch with tables and chairs, air-conditioning, a fridge, coffeemaker and outlets to charge your devices.

3) Willow Treehouse Glamping in Upstate New York
Chances are, you’ve probably never seen a treehouse quite like this one! If the architectural design doesn’t scream glamping and luxury, we don’t know what does. The Willow Treehouse is settled among the trees, overlooking a small, swimmable pond, on a wooded property 15min away from the town of Woodstock. It is cozy, yet has all you need to cook dinner, enjoy reading, chilling, or swimming. Separate spaces for chilling, writing a novel or enjoying the view.
The sleeping loft is accessible by a ladder, and you would have to walk in with your luggage, so pack lightly. Designed by Antony Gibbon and built by William Johnson the Treehouse is a passion project that came to life.

4) The Bellfire Tipi Hideaway in Catskills Mountains
The Bellfire Teepee is located in the Meeker Hollow – one of the best places to stargaze in NY State. The Tipi is located 500 ft from the farm house, nestled between a seasonally running creek, maple trees and wild flower field. June and July is peak lightning bug season – not to be missed!
The 18-foot Bellfire Tipi is a unique, custom-crafted getaway, complete with bespoke furniture, wool carpets, cedar floors and carefully-curated decorative pieces. It looks perfect for meditation, cuddling or just kicking back after a stressful week in the city. There is no electricity, but candles and camping lanterns are provided, as is a solar phone charger. If it starts to pour, the tipi’s smoke flaps can be closed over the top to make sure you stay dry. There is a camping shower behind the tipi and an outhouse with a wash station and a composting toilet 50 feet away.

8) Finnegan’s Farm, West Yurt
